Frequently Asked Questions

What can cause Dry Eye?

Age, gender (female) and certain medications can cause dry eye symptoms. Other dry eye risk factors include work environment (dry offices or factories), the weather, and geographical location.

Am I a good candidate for refractive surgery?

Patients who are at least 18 years of age, have healthy eyes that are free from retinal problems, corneal scars, and any eye diseases are generally suitable. Many patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism are potential candidates. We will also discuss your lifestyle needs to help you decide if LASIK is the best alternative for you. If you would like to schedule a free LASIK consultation, please contact our office.

What are the pros of daily disposable contact lenses?

Daily disposable contact lenses are great for many reasons. The risk of infection is reduced, because a new sterile lens is used everyday, and there is no need to clean the lens or the case. This is also a great option for patients who have allergies, contact lens solution sensitivities, or dry eye, as it eliminates the buildup of contaminants on the lenses, which can exacerbate those problems. Dailies make for a low-maintenance and comfortable option for almost any patient!

What can I expect from these treatments?

Both Forma-I and IPL treatment procedures are performed inside of our clinic. As a result, there is no general anesthesia, no incisions, or downtime. All patients find the Forma-I treatment painless and most patients find IPL treatments to be comfortable. Forma-I delivers heat during the procedure to unblock your meibomian glands. During the IPL treatment, there will be a bright flash of light from Lumecca, and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Your Optometrist will discuss in detail with you the specifics of your customized treatment plan and how it will address your individual condition during the initial dry eye consultation.

How safe are these treatments?

These treatments are for patients who are seeking non-invasive treatments. These are very safe and effective procedures to improve dry eye symptoms and will not impact your eyelashesor eyebrows.
